Delivering Enhanced Value to Our Members
Healthcare continues to face significant challenges, including workforce shortages, financial pressures, and increasing demand for care outside of traditional hospital settings. NELC's cooperative model positions us to help member hospitals navigate these challenges by:
Supporting timely hospital discharge, reducing avoidable length of stay, and preserving inpatient capacity for the most acutely ill patients
Improving access to home and ambulatory infusion services
Enhancing care integration across the acute, post-acute, and community settings
Providing high-quality, transparent, and patient-centered care as an extension of our member hospitals' clinical teams
As one of the few remaining providers in New England delivering comprehensive acute and specialty infusion services, our mission-driven model and partnerships with our members have never been more important.
NELC’s cooperative value includes a financial component at times not fully understood due to our unique 501e structure. Since our inception, member hospitals have received equity shares as owners of the corporation. Equity scorecards are shared with Chief Financial Officers, Board members and trustees during the months of July/August.
At our June Board of Directors meeting, the directors took an action nearly four decades in the making, voting to distribute $5.3 million in cash earnings back to eligible members. This is the first distribution of its kind in NELC's nearly 40-year history.
This milestone illustrates the strength of our cooperative model, creating value for member hospitals that own and support NELC and reinforces the founding belief that hospitals working together can achieve more collectively than they can individually.
I am deeply proud of what this milestone represents for NELC’s future.
Welcoming New Member Hospitals
We are pleased to welcome two new member hospitals to the NELC cooperative:
Lincoln Hospital, Damariscotta, Maine
Memorial Hospital, North Conway, New Hampshire
Both organizations are part of the MaineHealth family and strengthen our shared commitment to expanding access to infusion care throughout New England. We are honored to welcome these hospitals into the cooperative.
Leadership Updates
Board of Directors
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to three outstanding leaders whose Board service recently concluded:
Alice Shakman, UMass Memorial Health
Britt Crewse, MaineHealth
Scott Taylor, Baystate Health
On behalf of the entire cooperative, thank you for your dedication to our mission and the patients we collectively serve.
I am pleased to welcome two new members to the NELC Board of Directors following their appointments on June 12:
Justin Precourt, RN, DNP, UMass Memorial Health
Charles Morris, MD, MaineHealth
We look forward to the expertise, perspectives, and leadership they will bring to the cooperative.
New England Life Care
After nine and a half years of service, we thank Mike Gallagher for his leadership as Chief Financial Officer of New England Life Care. Mike's commitment to NELC's mission have helped position the cooperative for long-term success. His leadership and partnership have left a lasting impact on our organization.
As Mike transitions from his role, we are pleased to announce that Alisha Delcourt will step into the role of Chief Financial Officer. Alisha has worked closely with Mike to ensure a seamless leadership transition. We wish Mike the best in his next chapter while
congratulating Alisha as she assumes this important leadership role.
Looking Ahead
As we continue into the second half of 2026, our focus remains clear: to lead seamless, patient-centered infusion care for every member hospital while strengthening the partnerships that improve outcomes, enhance access, and serve our communities with compassion.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as together we build a stronger future for infusion care across New England.
With gratitude,
Catherine Boyd
