Understanding Enteral & Parenteral Nutrition

When patients are unable to meet nutritional needs through standard oral intake, enteral or parenteral nutrition provides a safe, medically supervised alternative.

  • Enteral Nutrition: Nutrients are delivered directly into the gastrointestinal tract through a feeding tube. This method supports patients with functional digestion who cannot consume food orally.

  • Parenteral Nutrition (TPN): Nutrients are administered intravenously, bypassing the digestive system entirely. This approach is used for patients with gastrointestinal impairment or those who require highly controlled nutritional intake.

Both therapies are managed by NELC’s dedicated clinicians to ensure the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and patient comfort.
