Catherine Boyd, MBA, MPAS, PA-C, FACHE
President and Chief Executive Officer
Catherine Boyd’s journey to President & CEO of New England Life Care (NELC) is rooted in service, compassion, and trust. Since joining NELC in 2021, she has grown through key leadership roles including Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Operating Officer, bringing a consistent focus on patients, people, and doing the right thing at every step.
With a background in frontline clinical care and deep operational experience, Catherine leads with a servant leadership mindset. She is known for listening first, supporting teams, and turning strategy into meaningful, practical action while always keeping people at the center of every decision. Her leadership has strengthened clinical quality, improved operational consistency, and reinforced accountability across the organization, all while staying grounded in NELC’s mission and values.
As President & CEO, Catherine is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring NELC continues to deliver high-quality, safe, and accessible care to the patients and communities we serve. She works closely with our member hospitals, Board of Directors, and leadership teams to guide growth, strengthen partnerships, and support innovation in how care is delivered. Just as importantly, she is deeply committed to fostering and evolving NELC’s culture ~ building on our CARES Values of being Compassionate, Accountable, Resilient, Energetic, and service-oriented ~ so that every employee feels supported, empowered, and connected to our shared purpose.
Catherine began her career in emergency and intensive care settings and later practiced as a Physician Assistant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Lahey Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and holds an MBA, a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Cardiopulmonary Sciences. Across every role, she has earned trust through integrity, humility, and a genuine commitment to developing others.
Michael Gallagher
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Gallagher joined New England Life Care in 2017 as Chief Financial Officer. In his CFO role, Mike provides financial insight into the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic initiatives in addition to overseeing financial and information technology operations. Prior to joining to NELC, Mike’s healthcare experience included senior financial and operational leadership roles at large, multi-specialty physician group practices including Reliant Medical Group and Southboro Medical Group, an Atrius Health affiliate. Mike holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from Bentley University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Brian Treptow
Chief Information Officer
Brian Treptow joined New England Life Care in 2020 as Chief Information Officer. Brian has over 30 years in C-level IT leadership, including most recently as the CIO for The Cancer Treatment Centers of America. In his role as CIO, Brian is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology, including privacy & security, clinical systems integration, member connectivity & integration, patient and member-facing solutions, data analytics, and systems infrastructure. Brian is leading New England Life Care through Digital Transformation, optimizing the use of technology for our members, patients, and key stakeholders.
Jeni Shields
Chief Business Officer
Jeni Shields joined New England Life Care in 2001 and currently serves as Chief Business Officer. In this role, she leads business development, service expansion, and partnership strategy to advance organizational growth and strengthen value for NELC’s member hospitals. Jeni evaluates market opportunities, deepens member and customer relationships, and ensures business priorities align with NELC’s mission and financial objectives. She also drives cross-functional initiatives that enhance engagement and satisfaction across the cooperative.
Prior to her current role, Jeni served in several strategic leadership positions, including Executive Director of Business Development, Director of Partnership Development, and Partnership Development Special Projects Manager.
Prior to joining New England Life Care, Jeni worked in various healthcare and biotechnology organizations across Northern New England. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Maine, Orono, and a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Southern Maine.
